Fish School

About 5 weeks ago (boy am I behind!!) K and Little Mama finally got to start swimming lessons.  The girls and I are members at a local gym and they offer swimming lessons as well.

The girls were thrilled and suprising not the least bit timid about getting into the water with a complete stranger and no mommy.   Just another reminder to me of how quickly they are growing up. 

Little Mama managed to be the only person in her class for a couple of weeks and we loved all the attention she got because of that!  After only 5 lessons, she's extremely comfortable in the water.  She's willing to jump in from the edge and entirely submerge herself and pop right back to the top (still wearing a floatie).  She's working on floating with assistance and keeping her entire face in the water long enough to blow bubbles.  At the end of the summer session last week her instructor said that she's skilled enough to move to the next level for the fall session starting in October. 

K had just one other kid in her class, which left plenty of time for quite a bit of attention as well.  In her very first lesson she learned to float on her back unassisted.  Something I spent many months trying to teach her!  ugh!  What a stinker!  By her 3rd lesson she was working on gliding through the water and switching from her front to her back and vice versa.  She's doing very well and even swam about 8 yards across the deep end (5 ft) unassisted.  At her last lesson her instructor said she was doing very well and is about 1/2 way through her current level, but was impressed with how quickly she progressed. 

It looks like we should have signed these 2 up for fish school a long time ago!!!

Trophies

Our dance season is winding down.  It's both a welcome relief and sad at the same time.  I don't think that the girls quite understand the meaning of it all.

On their last day of class they got their participation trophy.  This was K's second and Little Mama was beyone THRILLED to get her very first trophy.

WE had a great year with dance.  Little Mama is super excited for the summer session because she gets to have her own tap shoes and have a ballet/tap combo class now that she is 3.  K is pumped for hip hop and a few other new classes she gets to try.

Tuesday in the Park.

It's been a beautiful few days around here.  Today while K was at school Little Mama and I decided that it would be a great day to have a picnic in the park.

So we after we picked K up, we went to the park had some lunch and then spent almost 2 hours playing.

Such a fabulous hair do, right? 

K took a break from playing to ham it up for me a bit.

Mother's Day

I had a great one.

Can you guess why?

It sure was a pretty day.

Perfect for these sorts of things.

We started the morning early.  I got my first present from K, while I was still in bed.  Daddy shopped for her and got exactly what she wanted for me.  Cookies, pink chapstick, a toothbrush, and gum.  (I let it slide that I tecnically  already owned that pack of gum - the one he had taken from my purse because he forgot to buy one.)

She's such a thoughtful girl.

Which is also, why I didn't think twice about taking tons of photos of her, when she became such a willing subject that afternoon.

Even when this was her photo shoot location of choice.

Because she was letting me play with my new toy.  It was the 2nd present that came at the breakfast table.

I was confused when corey told me he needed to get out the camera before I opened my present.

and then...I was shocked.

To say I love it, would be quite the understatement.  Definately one of the best gifts ever...only topped by these two that I've had for a few years now.

and if there were no gifts. I'd still be one happy mama because of the 3 of them.

It really was a wonderful day.  My Mama was here spending a long weekend with us, we went to church, out to lunch, picked up ice cream, relaxed the afternoon away at home and had dinner together.  Definately a great day. For sure.

Some call it (getting) wet.

I called it learning.  Science - to be exact. 



Yesterday it was a nice morning and I thought the girls would have fun if I let them play in the water a little bit.  It's not quite warm enough for a pool or swimsuits, but it was great for some water table fun.  And I was able to sneak in a little learning while we were at it.

We discussed the items before they went into the water.  We predicted if they would sink or float.  They measured water with different size containers - cups, bowls, tablespoons, etc.  The girls had a blast.

After we talked about everything, I left them on the deck to go inside and change a load of laundry (or something).  When I got back out there, K's head was drenched as though she had dunked it in the water.  She looked up at me and said "we are getting baptized, mommy!"  I couldn't help but giggle and then tell her to stop dunking her head.

I also snapped this pretty picture of one of the gerbera daisys in the pot on my deck.  It might make a nice shot to blow up and frame on a wall somewhere. 



I just had this photo printed in 8 x 10 and it will hang in our downstairs bathroom.

New Project.

I decided to start a new project.  I'll post a daily photo of something that went on that day.  That way you'll get to see some more of the photos that don't really go with a specific event.

Disneyland photos

I know this took me forever. I had trouble converting the sound files and finally figured it out last night.
