Going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo

While Daddy was working hard in Lincoln the girls and I drove in to Omaha for a visit to the Henry Doorly Zoo.

Luckily they have plenty of indoor displays, because while it was a nice day for November in Nebraska, it was nothing like the California temps we had the week before!

The girls enjoyed seeing the 4 month old baby gorilla the most.

Unfortunately the glass windows don't photograph well!  But the girls watched this little guy sleep for a while, then moved over to see the big guys!

Hard to make him out in the photo, but between the girls to the right of the flash on the glass is the silverback gorilla.  The alpha male of the group.

We made a trip through the butterfly garden too.

We saw some beautifful flowers, butterflies, and even that hummingbird!

And then it was back to the gorillas.  The girls Fave.

Nevermind that it's not a great photo of K, check out the cute baby gorilla.  They said he was being cared for by the zoo staff because somehow he had been injured and his mama wasn't able to nurse him back to health properly.  He was a cutie.  The girls loved that they got to see him awake finally.

After the baby, we went out for a few photos with the gorilla statues outside and finished out our day by purchasing a gorilla souvinier.

It was a fun day at the zoo, and we practically had it to ourselves!
