I love knowing things before I should.
Patience has never been one of my stronger points. OK so patient is not a word that would probably ever be used to describe me...unless you count it as part of the word IMpatient.
Admittedly, I'm a Christmas and Birthday snoop, forever hunting for the hidden presents and trying to find out before its time - for me that's part of the fun.
SO it should come as no surprise to anyone that waiting until almost 22 weeks to find out this new baby's gender would be tough. Excruciating, given the fact that they are able to accurately tell as early as 16-18 weeks.
Last week my impatience really came out. With my ultrasound scheduled for 10/15 I couldn't take it any longer. It didn't help any that I had one of my besties cheering me along to change my appointment. (Thanks KD! I needed your encouragement!)
Lucky for me, Super Dad was in town and planning to work from home. Even luckier - the clinic could get me in for an appointment. SOLD! I was super excited to find out if we would have a new baby sister or a brother.
The girls were both set on having a sister. Although, K did admit that she thought it would be a boy - but really wanted a girl. Little Mama - just wanted the girl, a sister. Super Dad, of course, wanted the boy - a son - thats no secret. And me? I just wanted a healthy baby. I would be thrilled either way. If we had a girl in there, great - we've got all the gear and I know what to do with girls. If we had a boy in there, fantastic, I did always want a boy too - we could shop for all new clothes, we'd break the neighborhood spell of having girls only, and Super Dad would get the little man he wanted so much. But what would I do with a boy?!
As we were getting started with the ultrasound it didn't take 2 minutes for K to shout out "what is it?!" We told her she needed to wait until the tech looked at the baby to make sure it was growing well and healthy first. The tech asked what the girls were were each hoping for and confirmed that someone was sure to be dissapointed.
A few minutes later she informed us that....

it would be the big sisters who would be a little dissapointed and Super Dad who would be happy.
Yes, that's right. We are having a boy! A real live B-O-Y.
What am I going to do with a BOY?!
We are THRILLED to say the least. The girls are coming around and I know that once they get to hold him and help me with him that they won't even have a 2nd thought about wanting a sister. Besides, they already have a sister.

stinker-buns. ;) Love the way that you share your news. Boy or Girl, Girl or Boy -- so thrilling either way!
I LOVE the way you told everyone. CONGRATS!
So exciting! Congratulations!
Congratulations! I love your clever style of writing. Girls are great, but your going to love watching a little boy grow, too!
Love,
Mom C
I'm just now catching up on the blog - congratulations! How exciting - a new dynamic to your family! Boys are the greatest :)
Congratulations!!
You might want to warn Super Dad that most of the little boys I know who have older sisters look up to them and want to play with things they have, whether or not it's considered masculine.
