Today we visited an 1850’s farm. It’s still a working farm today and everything is done just as it was 150+ years ago. The girls were timid and unsure of the animals at first. They were happy to stand and observe.
Then a nice farmer asked K to help him with one of his chores. I don’t remember what he said this was, but it was something that they used to make molasses (after squeezing out the juice of the plant and boiling it). Her job was to smack this against the inside of the bucket so that the good seeds fell off and they could be used for planting later.
From there they were both able to be a little more hands on.
